St. John's Apartments
St. John's Housing Corporation is a government subsidized apartment complex. It is designed for very low and low income people. The units are specifically designed to meet the needs of the elderly. It provides freedom for each individual to live a complete and comfortable lifestyle.
There are 125 units, including 13 handicapped and 6 efficiency units. All units are one bedroom. Each unit has a carpeted living room and bedroom. The kitchen has a vinyl floor and is furnished with a stove, refrigerator, and microwave. Most apartments have a dishwasher as well. Each bath has an emergency pull cord and safety handrails in the tub. There is ample closet/storage space in each unit. Each unit is individually thermostatically controlled. Each unit has pre-wired phone jacks, cable hook-up, and built-in sleeve for an air conditioner.
Location:
St. John's Housing Corporation is conveniently located at 815 Chapin Street in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The location is two blocks west of Hastings Way close to restaurants, Eastridge Center and Mega Foods. There are three churches within two blocks, and it is located on a city bus route with a bus shelter for waiting.
Cost:
Rent is 30% of the tenant's total adjusted annual income less a utility allowance.
Eligibility:
There are no restrictions as to race, religion, or gender. Tenants must meet the following requirements:
- be at least 62 years of age or handicapped/disabled
- fall within income limits established by the federal government for subsidized housing
- be able to take care of themselves

Wellness Program
Senior nursing students come to St. John's Apartments once a week during school. Blood is drawn for labs and diabetes education as well as for monitoring blood pressure and distributing flu shots.
Additional services include:
- Teaching regarding medications, chronic illness, self-care activities
- Assessment and monitoring of chronic illnesses
- Provide guidance for tenants to talk to their doctors about their health concerns
- Strength training - general body toning, leg strengthening for increased mobility
